Have I Been Scammed?

I finally gave in to the hubby...I agreed to get a dog. Not only has he been sending me links at work on a daily basis of super cute boxer puppies, but he also makes me feel guilty that I haven't let him get one yet. You have to understand...I was not raised with animals...so I'm not an animal lover or hater...I just needed some time to get used to the fact of taking care of something that eats, drools, possibly chews on valuables, and uses the bathroom on a frequent basis! The hubby on the other hand is a complete dog lover! He views dogs as lifelong companions that bring extreme joy to your life! I'm hoping I'm won over!

Now, here's my dilemma...we ordered a dog online. He lives in Kansas, and we had to buy a ticket to transport him here. The hubby had to wire money via Western Union to an international address...which I suppose if it's a scam, I'm glad we didn't enter our bank account or credit card info! So, now we just wait and hope that the little guy exists and gets delivered!

Has anyone else gone through the same process of buying a pet online? I want to hear your good and bad stories...of course...more of the good please!!

Update:

Okay, so we were scammed...but luckily we only lost a couple hundred dollars! The classified site was legitimate; however, the seller was not. As we researched further (which should have happened more beforehand), we found out you are NEVER supposed to send money to anyone you don't know via Western Union because you are not covered by fraud protection! But, I thought it was better for the scam artists not to have our bank account information, though. I guess you live and learn. Honestly, it is not that uncommon for people to buy dogs online...unfortunately, we picked the wrong little pup! Luckily, we were able to find another little brindle boxer pup locally. We picked him up this week, and we named him Cooper!

I have a success story! A friend of mine has 2 dogs that she ordered on the internet and had shipped to her! I don't know all of the details, but I do know it worked out!

Oh wow ordering a dog online. What an experience. You'll have to share it with us once you get him.

this is my first time to your blog!

i share your sentiment about not being a dog lover or hater. i like to be around them sometimes and sometimes i don't so i get nervous to be committed to one. maybe it will be like kids...you always love yours no matter what!?

good luck and can't wait to see how it turns out!

a twenty-something living in Northern Virginia, but a city girl at heart. My husband is a youth pastor, and we absolutely LOVE our students! I love my husband, coca-cola, bargain shopping, Chick-fila and enjoy laughing A LOT! We are slowly working on home "projects," enjoying our BOXER, named Cooper, and getting ready to add another addition to the family!
