Step It Up.

Like many of you, the husband and I decided to make a New Year's Resolution to kick the newlywed weight. Okay, so we're technically not newlyweds after almost 3 years. Regardless, we need to kick excess weight. Therefore, we decided to sign up for a year membership at the local rec center. The one condition is that my membership had to include fitness classes I could attend because I can't seem to push myself on the fitness machines.

And that's what I've been doing the past 3 weeks and have been really been enjoying myself. My favorite class is Step Aerobics. My first experience with step was when I took a summer course at a community college for my gym credit. I assumed it would consist of middle age women, and honestly, be kind of boring. Boy, was I wrong...and man has it changed since I last took a class. It's a lot of fun and a LOT of hard work!

Usually, it's important to read the description of classes to know what you're getting into fitness-wise; however, I jumped right in and decided to head to Step Explosion. Long story short, it ended up being an advanced, step class. Let's just say I'm not advanced and haven't been for a long, long time! There were many times when I was facing the wrong way and making eye contact with people. Most know, you should be facing the same way as the entire class. Well, if you don't know the name of the steps that are being called out you get a little behind everyone else. Even though I felt embarrassed, I was completely drenched in sweat. I also decided to kick my pride and attend a second time and a third. I love it so much now! I still mess up, but I tend to not care as much anymore.

In only three weeks, I have noticed so much more energy, a new confidence in my step, being more conscious of what I eat, and my clothes not feeling as tight in certain areas. If working out makes you feel so good, why is it always so difficult to keep up?

My Photo
a twenty-something living in Northern Virginia, but a city girl at heart. My husband is a youth pastor, and we absolutely LOVE our students! I love my husband, coca-cola, bargain shopping, Chick-fila and enjoy laughing A LOT! We are slowly working on home "projects," enjoying our BOXER, named Cooper, and getting ready to add another addition to the family!
