Great Deal.

You will never guess what I bought this camera for...well, first here's the story. Each fall, Target places discontinued models of cameras on clearance. Since the Nikon D5000 is out, the Nikon D40 was marked down.

Ladies, I am not a good photographer. I really wish I was. So, I have wanted to buy a SLR in hopes that my photos will look somewhat better.

Okay, back to the purchase. I first saw the camera on sale for $419, marked down from $500. Ummm...that's NOT a great deal. So, I thought I'd give it a few weeks since Target always marks down a few times.

At this point, every time I was running into Target, I was always casually browsing the camera section. I'm sure the employees began to recognize me too! Finally, I see that it was marked down to $350 and since the only one left was the floor model, I was able to get an additional 30% off!!! Yes, you read that correctly...30% OFF! So I was able to get the Nikon D40 for $245! That is definitely half off and a deal I could not pass up! I also bought the 3 year Warranty Target offered for only $29! I love how a great deal makes you smile!

I have enjoyed playing around with the new camera; however, I still don't know exactly what I'm doing. But, I do have to say my photos look 100x better, and I know it'll take me a little practice to learn all of the camera's capabilities.

If anyone owns this camera and has any tips, PLEASE SHARE!

I am SO JEALOUS. I don't have a creative bone in my body and take bad pics. Ever since having kids i've wanted an SLR so that their pictures look that much better! I will be wandering through target tomorrow!

WOWZA that's a great deal! I don't have this one, but I do have the Canon Rebel - for a year now - and I couldn't tell you a darned thing about it. Except that with no experience and no manual reading whatsoever, I'm still pretty excited about the pictures it takes! I'm sure you'll feel the same =)Have fun!

I've had this camera for almost 2.5 years and I LOVE it. I can't say enough good things about it!

What a great deal! I got my first SLR camera last year and love it. I am no where near as good of a photographer as I'd like to be, but I did buy a photography for dummies book that was made just for my Cannon Rebel and it was so helpful!

My dad has the D5000 and loves it! And I think a D40 is great too! I don't think you can go wrong with a Nikon! Happy picture taking!

I'm really jealous of that find. The D40 is a great camera, throw a nice lens on there and you've got yourself a really nice set up. Congrats!
